Best Things to Do:
A Luxury Facial Treatment
By Bianca Bernacchi-Bigeard, responsible for the courses Paris Beauty Week and Paris Beauty Day
Earlier this month, I had the privilege of receiving a facial treatment at one of the most exquisite locations in Paris, Biologique Recherche, located on the Champs Élysées.
Company History
Biologique Recherche was founded 40 years ago when Yvan and Josette Allouche, a biologist and physiotherapist respectively, combined their savoir-faire and passion, creating a unique and visionary story in the realm of cosmetic treatments.
At the time of its foundation, the company operated as a research and development center, solely focused on creating treatments and formulating products intended exclusively for professionals.
Today, the brand focuses on the combination of clinical studies and personalized aesthetic treatments. Its products are pure, super concentrated, almost in raw form, featuring complex and highly original formulas that have helped build the effectiveness reputation of the Biologique Recherche method.
The Headquarters
The building that houses the company on the Champs Élysées is, in itself, surprising. An old hotel particulier, calm and sheltered from the bustling avenue, which was the first address in Paris for the Count of Monte Cristo from the famous novel by Alexandre Dumas. Learning this made me even more enchanted; it was worth the visit!
The interior architecture is all from the 1970s, the era of the company's founding.
On the ground floor, they have a super large and bright reception area with various spaces, including a tea bar with a fireplace, the Skin Instant Lab, and a coiffure salon.
On the other floors, there are 5 cabins for facial and body treatments, 2 elegant VIP cabins, 1 cabin for hand and foot beauty, and the Josette Allouche Academy, a space dedicated to the education and training of professionals working at Biologique Recherche.
The Treatment
Upon arriving at the location, I was greeted by an aesthetician who explained everything about the brand and walked me through every step of the treatment.
The aesthetician guided me to the first floor, to the (actually an apartment!) Haute Couture cabin. I instantly felt like spending the weekend in that place; every corner had a detail of the brand and the history of the location.
I was served a hot drink and prepared to enter the treatment room, or rather, the salon!
An interesting detail is that at Biologique Recherche, they talk about état de peau, skin condition, which can be different and change within the same day depending on one's lifestyle. The skin reflects who you are and what you are feeling at the moment, which is why the treatments of the brand are so unique. After a skin analysis, the aesthetician selects the most suitable range of creams, which can even vary from one side of the face to the other. How interesting is that!
This is very relevant because, after the analysis conducted on me, we discovered that my left side is more dehydrated and aged than the right side. The left side of the face is generally the side that gets more sun exposure (the side of the driver in a car) and the side where we sleep with our face pressed against the pillow.
A dermocosmetic diagnosis of my skin was done with a super modern device, Skin Instant Lab, which allows monitoring the evolution of our skin. Based on the results, the aesthetician customizes the entire treatment for you.
Now, you lie down on a mega comfortable bed and forget about life. Following this, your skin is cleansed with the famous P50 lotion, the best seller, which simultaneously cleanses and gently exfoliates. This lotion helps balance the skin's pH and prepares it to receive the products that will be applied next.
The anti-aging facial protocol technique is also incredible. They did it on one side of my face and then showed me afterward. The difference is truly impressive! I tried to take a photo, but it doesn't capture the visual as well as seeing it live...
You can really feel the lift on the skin! The important thing for the brand is the result-the products aren't even scented-and anyone undergoing treatment at Biologique Recherche can be assured that it truly works!
The procedure I had was the "Soin restrutuctrant lissant" which restructures and smooths the skin. The cost is €125.
Honestly, I could write a romance about this facial treatment! Ideally, it should be done once a month, along with the discipline to use the creams at home.
At the end, the aesthetician explains everything and writes down which products you should use to maintain the treatment's effects for a longer time. Typically, the results are quite visible for the first 5 days.
Anyone wanting to schedule a treatment or to learn about the products during Paris Beauty Week will undoubtedly experience unique privileges.
