Paris and Its Dogs

Dogs represent Paris just like its monuments, cuisine, and wine.

According to data from the city hall, there are 200,000 dogs in Paris that produce about 16 tons of waste per day.

By law, every dog owner is required to clean up after their pets, otherwise they are subject to a fine of €68. We don't need statistics to see that the law is not respected. Walking through Paris, watch where you step because, according to the city hall, 650 accidents per year are caused by "canine pollution."

Parisians without dogs live exasperated by the mess on the streets and, more seriously, by the fact that they bring into their homes a portion of the 16 tons of feces scattered on the sidewalks on the soles of their shoes.

You, the tourist, be warned. When walking in Paris, keep an eye on the ground!
