The Sculptures of Paris

This is the largest and perhaps the best-known fountain in Paris and one of the main monuments in Saint Germain.

The Saint Michel Fountain is located at the beginning of the Boulevard Saint Michel and the corner of Rue Danton.

It represents an allegory of the archangel Michael presented as a warrior, fighting the battle of good against evil. His combat is endless. After expelling Lucifer from paradise, Michael is depicted here battling dragons, one of the many faces of Satan.

In France, the warrior Michael is the protector of soldiers, police officers, and radiologists. In the latter case, I don't quite understand the connection between radiology and the archangel.

The two dragons were sculpted by Alfred Jacquemart, a great French artist known for his expertise in animals and fantastic creatures.

If you are in Paris with your children, ask them to look for the differences between the two dragons. If we observe them closely, we can enjoy the game of discovering errors between two supposedly identical elements.

This is a meeting point for young people, and the monument undergoes various transformations: sometimes the water is colored, sometimes there are bubbles of soap, and sometimes the archangel wakes up displaying a bra.
