The Place des Vosges in Paris

The Place des Vosges, located in the Marais, is one of the most beautiful squares in Paris. It is also the oldest planned square in the city.

I consider the Place des Vosges, located in the Marais district, to be one of the most beautiful squares in Paris. It is also the oldest planned square in Paris - also called the Royal Square since it was built by Henri IV in 1612.

It is small, with residential buildings made of red bricks, pointed slate roofs, and in the center, a delightful garden with statues and fountains. All the buildings are the same height except for the King and Queen's Pavilions, all protected by national monument preservation laws.

To discover the secrets of this cozy and romantic square, start by walking through the arcades, admiring the shop windows, and visiting the small cafés and restaurants.

At number 9, you will find one of the best and most luxurious restaurants in Paris. Located in the square since 1986, L'Ambroisie holds 3 Michelin stars. The discreet entrance hides the interior with several lavishly decorated rooms.

I recommend ordering the puff pastry with lobster, sesame, and curry sauce. Reservations can be made by calling 01 42 78 51 45.

At number 28 is the Hôtel Pavillon de la Reine, with rates starting from 360 euros.

The garden in the center of the square attracts local residents, children, and tourists. When the weather is warm, the garden becomes a large picnic and sunbathing area. A truly Parisian scene.
